CORRIDORS 2.0:
From Protection to Coexistence

Due to deforestation, agriculture, urban development, climate change, and ecological pressures, the Chinese red panda’s habitat is increasingly fragmented—causing population isolation and loss of genetic diversity, with long-term extinction risks.

This project uses service design to foster human–panda coexistence by building ecological corridors and enabling community co-governance. Through rotational planting and a credits-based reward system, villagers become active stewards. Reconnecting habitat patches supports red panda migration and breeding, addressing fragmentation at its root.

The map view and integrated schedule clearly show how individual contributions build a shared symbiotic community, enabling a shift from observer to participant.

Learning red panda habits upgrades villagers’ work from experience to science, preventing losses. Each action gains clear value—bringing both ecological returns and community respect.

This interface lets villagers plan their contributions and turn every effort into visible achievements and community capital. Credits serve as virtual currency proportional to the labor required for planting and maintenance, with a “shopping” redemption model designed to boost user engagement.

Posts and likes build belonging and recognition, while expert Q&A transforms individual questions into shared knowledge. The personal homepage gives users fulfillment, highlights their growth and contributions, and showcases achievements to inspire continued engagement.
